Louis has long chased the ball. Tired, he wanted to discover a new sport. His choice then turned to running. For RunMotion Coach, he looks back on his 1st Marathon, which he has just completed: The La Rochelle Marathon.

How did your La Rochelle Marathon go?
My La Rochelle Marathon went great! I aimed to finish around 3:05, in the end I finished in 2:58. What a pleasure!
As the kilometers went by, I knew I was going to break the 3-hour mark. I felt like a robot: prepared, knowing my program, knowing the course; insensitive to fatigue (except for quad pains from the 36th kilometer); solely focused on my task, repeating step by step my pace, galvanized by the excitement of starting after 13 weeks of preparation!
How did you manage the preparation of the La Rochelle Marathon?
I went for a 13-week preparation with 4 to 6 runs per week. My weekly volume ranged from 60 to 80km. I often feared feeling discomfort or even getting injured (past experiences haven’t spared me from classic issues like IT band syndrome). But nothing at all! No doubts, no injuries. No injuries, no doubts. Optimal shape!
What motivates you to run?
On the road, my motivation is performance and pushing my limits (like sub-3h on Marathon for example). In trail running, it’s the childish pleasure of running in nature, tracking the paths, the elevations (and mud if possible!).
An anecdote to share?
Running just for the sake of running wasn’t for me. At least, that’s what I thought because the pleasure never leaves me and multiplies with each run. However, I know nothing. I try, I meander, I do and maybe do anything but I love it. I seek information to learn how to run (footstrike, techniques, shoes, paces…). It’s with RunMotion Coach that I really discover running and the pleasure of performance!
How did you discover the RunMotion Coach app?
I’ve been using RunMotion Coach for a long time for its pace calculator in particular.
What encouraged you to download and try the app?
I tried two other « applications ». I was disappointed every time. Either due to lack of flexibility. Or due to lack of effort (I felt like I wasn’t working). Or both.
I discover RunMotion Coach and the coaching section through:
– the pace calculator, which I finally read
– thanks to my partner
She gifted it to me after researching the product… and she did well! PS: she also got a subscription. And she succeeded in her first two races with the App 💪🏻
What do you prefer about the application?
I like RunMotion Coach because it is:
– An application
– Flexibility: a RunMotion Coach preparation adapts to a runner (!) whether it’s about the preparation duration, motivation (performance, weight…) and coaching possibilities
– Performance: I felt like I was working from the 1st week
– Exports to the watch (and Garmin)
– Knowledge capsules on nutrition, race management, etc.
In short, EVERYTHING! 🔥
After the La Rochelle Marathon, what is your next sporting challenge?
After the La Rochelle Marathon, my next sporting challenge will be to set a record on the Paris half marathon. The goal I set for myself: 1:23.
Congratulations Louis, a first Marathon in less than 3 hours, you can be proud of yourself! 👏
