Jorge has completed his 1st Major, the New York Marathon! For RunMotion Coach, he reflects on this race. Story.
How did your New York Marathon go?
My goal was to achieve a personal best for this incomparable event (I didn’t think it would be that much!). My RunMotion Coach preparation with a target of 3h30 seemed consistent with my abilities and my previous times (I ran 3 marathons in Paris between 3h48 and 4h00). A few days before the race, I asked myself the question: enjoy or perform? I was afraid of being too focused and ending up in my bubble.
In reality, I managed to do both! I felt such a rush of adrenaline and energy during the first 25 km thanks to the cheers, a real communion with the crowd. Then, I found my pace exactly as planned, at 5:00/km.
I’ll share a little anecdote: my wife and daughter were supposed to cheer me on at the end of the course. By chance, I met my daughter at the 15th km, as she was leaving her Airbnb. I wouldn’t have heard her because of the hustle and bustle around, but it was an emotional moment, amidst the faces, the other runners, and the excitement of the event.
How did you manage the preparation for the New York Marathon?
Regarding my preparation for the New York Marathon on the application, I followed a training plan of 5 sessions per week. By the way, I plan to keep this same pace that you ‘forced’ on me.
What motivates you to run?
What motivates me to run is above all a set of reasons: my health and physical fitness, pushing my limits (whether to improve my performance, my running technique, etc.), and the pleasure I find in the events I participate in throughout the year.
What do you prefer in the application?
Your application is very clear and filled with personalized advice. I like everything, I don’t have a preference!
After the New York Marathon, what is your next sporting challenge?
After the New York Marathon, my next challenge will be the 10 km Hoka Paris Centre. This year, I tried long-distance trail running with a 60 km course, and in 2025, I’m taking on an even bigger challenge: 100 km on the Ultra Marin, as well as the Lisbon Marathon. A second major marathon could be on the agenda for 2026 (maybe in London!).

An image is worth a thousand words! Congratulations Jorge for this achievement🔥
